After school, I tried an apprenticeship role with another company, but I didn’t enjoy it and I didn’t find it challenging.
When I saw an advert for apprenticeships at Altrad, there seemed to be a lot more structure and support – I could tell straightaway that I would learn a lot. I had also studied business for my GCSEs and really enjoyed it, so I spoke to the recruitment team at Altrad and told them about my previous experiences on an apprenticeship programme – they talked me through how it would be totally different at Altrad and answered all my questions.
I even found the interview process to be really enjoyable! I applied and then heard in a few days that I had an interview – they were also accommodating about arranging a time that was suitable for me. I felt reassured by how much communication and support I got from Altrad – even before I was employed by them.
Now I’m here I really enjoy coming into work every day. It’s always really varied, and I have great support from the people I work with – it’s a nice environment to be in.
Where I see my potential taking me…
I’ve got an interest in project management, and I’d like to see what opportunities there are for me to gain experience in this area. But as Altrad is such a big company, and I’m so early in my career, I feel like there really are no limits to what I can achieve. I plan on taking every opportunity that comes my way.
What I’d say to others…
I’d definitely encourage others to look at apprenticeships at Altrad – in fact I’ve already recommended it to some of my friends! I’ve told them that it’s a great place to work, loads of opportunities, always different every day, and that we have a laugh as a team. I genuinely always enjoy coming into work.
How I’d sum up my apprenticeship…
Excited by the future.
I feel like there really are no limits to what I can achieve. I plan on taking every opportunity that comes my way.”
