This World Environment Day, our people didn’t just talk about change, they got out into their communities and made it happen.
Across our region, colleagues came together with a shared purpose: to protect and enhance the environments where they live and work. With sleeves rolled up and a strong sense of community spirit, teams contributed to a series of hands-on initiatives designed to leave a meaningful, lasting impact.
In Inverclyde, a hospital greenspace has been thoughtfully transformed into a vibrant, biodiverse garden, creating a calming, restorative space for patients and staff alike. Elsewhere, teams in Aberdeen, Warrington and Goldthorpe took part in community litter picks, helping to restore local areas while raising awareness of everyday environmental responsibility. And in Poland, an ambitious tree-planting effort saw nearly 7,000 trees take root, supporting biodiversity and contributing to a greener future.

While each initiative was unique, they all shared a common thread: a commitment to responsible action and sustainable thinking. These efforts not only improved local environments but also strengthened connections between colleagues, demonstrating the power of collective action.
Behind every planted tree, cleared pathway and revitalised space are the people who chose to give their time and energy to something bigger than themselves.
To everyone who took part, thank you. Together, we are helping to shape cleaner, greener communities and build a more sustainable future for generations to come.
