We are delighted to shine a spotlight on Barry Marshall, who recently completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Barry, a scaffolder who works offshore in the Southern North Sea (SNS) UK, joined forces with other Marine Training Corps instructors to tackle this incredible feat in support of The Marine Training Corps Sutton unit and the Royal Marines Association – a Royal Marines charity.
On 7th May 2023, Barry, alongside Captain Andy McQuiston, Colour Sergeant Jack Thorpe, Sergeant Joel Purchase, Sergeant Amy Prestidge and Sergeant Michaela Etheridge, embarked on a remarkable journey to raise funds for these deserving organisations. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge demanded courage, perseverance and physical endurance as they scaled the three towering peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in Northern England.
It took the team an impressive 9 hours and 41 minutes to conquer these mighty peaks, showcasing their resilience and teamwork throughout the gruelling expedition.
The Marine Training Corps (MTC) is a community interest youth organisation spread across the UK, that provides young people with valuable learning experiences through the guidance of dedicated adult instructors.
Our people at Altrad have generously contributed towards the current fundraising total of £700.00. This support will be divided between the Marine Training Corps Sutton Unit and the Royal Marines Association, enabling them to continue their invaluable work and positively impact the lives of many.
To further recognise Barry’s achievement and show our support, we encourage everyone to visit the JustGiving page. Here you can find additional information about the event and contribute to the fundraising cause.
Keep up the great work, Barry!
