Congratulations to Nigel Procter, a Mechanical Supervisor at Syngenta, Huddersfield, North England, who completed the ‘run the month’ challenge for Prostate Cancer UK in January 2023. He completed the challenge by finishing a 27-mile walk across the Yorkshire Peak District, with an elevation gain of 4,101ft in 10 hours 33 minutes and 40 seconds.
In total, Nigel and his friend Jodi, who works for Altrad’s client Syngenta, walked 271 miles during the month, including a practice marathon and a challenge marathon. This helped to raise more than £1,400 for Prostate Cancer UK, smashing their goal of £500.
Nigel said “It was an extremely tough challenge, especially at this time of year, with unexpected weather fronts, together with terrain which caused difficulties. There were times that we felt overwhelmed, but we were determined to finish, so we were happy to complete the challenge for a good cause.”
