We are delighted to showcase two of our employees, Christine Sherwood, Senior Operations Manager, and Peter Justice, Senior Analyst – HRIS, both based in Renfrew, Scotland. The duo joined forces with their local Clydesdale Hockey Club to break two Guinness World Records, raising funds for a new playing surface!

The hockey club is said to have broken two Guinness World Records, subject to verification, for the longest recorded game of field hockey and the highest number of players in a single match.

The club kicked off their record-breaking efforts with a game at 8am on 24th May, where they played non-stop for 60 hours until 8pm on 26th May, seemingly breaking the previous record held by the Chelmsford Hockey Club in Essex back in 2016, who played for 56 hours, 18 minutes, and 45 seconds.

The club’s efforts continued on 27th May, when Clydesdale had 420 of their players, ranging in age from 9 to 78, in a single hockey match, reportedly surpassing the previous world record of 367 people set by Warwick Hockey Club in 2017. The sheer volume of players involved in this game is remarkable considering a traditional game of field hockey sees two teams of 11 compete against one another!

The challenges were all in aid of fundraising to help the club begin their journey to create a much-needed new playing surface, which the club says will be beneficial for their whole community. If you would like to learn more or support their efforts, please visit their fundraising page here.

Well done to you both for being involved in an amazing initiative to help your community!
