Altrad volunteers have been supporting a Whitehaven school’s annual festival in Cumbria, England for three years running.

The team stepped up to help Mayfield School hold their annual end-of-year event to celebrate the summer and to say goodbye to older students.

Pupils, staff and parents, dressed in glitter and fancy costumes, enjoyed the all-day event, despite the unseasonably stormy weather. It was a big highlight of the school year!

The Altrad team, who work within Programme and Project Partner’s (PPP) supply chain at Sellafield, spent several days on-site before the event, building a huge stage for the musicians, as well as sponsoring Wilmott Amusements to provide free fairground rides for the children. Mossop’s, one of Altrad’s supply chain partners, was also a valued sponsor.

Carolyn Westnedge, Assistant Head and festival organiser said: “Everyone had a fantastic time watching the artists, taking part in the activities or having lots of rides on the attractions. It was made possible with the support of local businesses, charities and performers who all gave their time and  resources willingly and without cost.

Steven Cowell, Access Project Engineer explained, “Supporting an exceptional school like Mayfield helps to put workplace challenges in perspective. It’s lovely to see the pupils happy and enjoying the festival and I am in awe of all the staff and the helpers.”
