Altrad people conquer the Great North run

We are proud to shine a spotlight on two of our people who recently took part in the Great North run in North East England, UK on Sunday 10^th September.

Well done to Alistair Collis, E,C&I Project Engineer at Syngenta in Huddersfield, UK and Charlotte Conway, HR Helpdesk Manager based in Goldthorpe, England. Starting on the central motorway in Newcastle and finishing on the Leas in South Shields, the Great North run is the world’s biggest half marathon.

Although running separately, both ran to raise money for The children’s hospital charity and Sheffield children’s hospital, a charity that funds over and above the NHS provision to help children get better quickly.

Alistair donned a bear suit to complete the run and spoke of how the charity and hospital mean a lot to him and his family – having received support from them for his daughter since 2016. “Our daughter Kate has juvenile idiopathic arthritis and an eye condition called uveitis. The children’s hospital has been fantastic; in the 7 years that we have been visiting, they have been treating and monitoring the condition, which has allowed Kate to have a normal life.”

Charlotte also expressed the importance of the charity to her and her family. Having had two premature babies and with her husband now working as part of the surgical team at the hospital, she felt this was the perfect charity to run for.

Our people at Altrad have generously contributed and, in total, Alistair raised over £600.00 and Charlotte over £700.00 – which will help the charity provide their vital services. Amazing and what a great cause!
