Work starts on ATEX and NORSOK Waterjetting Pump and Vacuum Units with Calder Pumps

Altrad has placed an order with Calder Ltd for offshore waterjetting and vacuum units, each mounted in a DNV-certified container.

Along with Altrad’s existing fleet of Calder pumps and vacuums, these units will be utilised for offshore fabric maintenance and decontamination, and process pipe, tank and vessel cleaning.

This short animation shows how pump units and vacuums are used in conjunction with the Syphonvac System – Altrad’s online sand removal technology.

Both pump and vacuum will benefit from NORSOK specifications which include; foam fire suppression system, heat (fire) and gas detector system, portable foam fire extinguisher, noise attenuation, visual (flashing light) and audible alarm, and rig permissive and feed-back signals. The pump has a performance of 87 lpm at 120 bar, and the vacuum is capable of an impressive 2270 cfm at 800 mbar. Both units are driven by a Volvo D7C engine. Design, build and FAT testing will take place at our factory in Worcester, UK.
