Kenny Reilly was tasked with the removal of insulation matts from flanges on oil lines within an operational asset. Kenny identified that Hexavalent Chromium might be present following a recent site wide communication.

He requested that the HSEQ team investigate the area with him and the inspection revealed that the matts contained ceramic fibre, confirming there would be no risk of Hexavalent Chromium present. During this inspection it was also identified that a section of handrail had been damaged which could present a fall from height risk.

The section of handrail was documented and immediately reported to the control of work team responsible for the asset. Kenny also contacted the scaffold supervisor for the area and requested that temporary safety barriers be erected to remove the risk to all personnel. This urgent maintenance repair was completed safely and on time over the weekend.
