We are delighted to highlight the remarkable achievements of Sophie Gray, our Chemical Cleaning Technical Manager, who has been making waves offshore whilst managing the BP Glenlyon heater chemical clean scopes. Sophie and her team have recently completed their initial 14-day trip with outstanding results and they are gearing up for another 7-day trip once the asset is ready for them.
Since joining Altrad in May 2022, Sophie has embraced various on-site and offshore opportunities that have allowed her to broaden her knowledge and experience in our service offerings. She spent valuable time at the Sullom Voe Terminal in Shetland, UK, where she engaged in a cold cutting scope involving the cutting and cleaning of large diameter crude oil import/export pipework. This experience introduced Sophie to the intricacies of cold cutting, the equipment used, and the associated hazards and risks. It also provided her with the chance to develop closer relationships with our offshore team.
Sophie’s inspiring journey holds valuable lessons for other young women seeking to advance their careers within Altrad. Reflecting on her transition from her previous employer after eight years, she admits it was a nerve-wracking experience. However, the future opportunities at Altrad and the unwavering support from the management team have made her role incredibly exciting. Sophie is surrounded by experienced colleagues who are always ready to offer help and support, tackling challenges as a united front. Stepping out of her comfort zone has allowed her to grow and realise her true potential, and the training provided by Altrad has deepened her understanding of Environmental Services.
To fellow young women aspiring to advance their careers with Altrad, Sophie offers some insightful advice. She encourages them to push beyond their comfort zones, remain eager to learn, and lean on the support of their teammates.
