Letter to Employees – 26 March 2020

Dear Colleague

We wish to take the opportunity to thank you all for continuing to support our clients in the delivery of our services, which support the provision of power, fuel and other important services to our communities, during the current challenging circumstances.

While many of our clients are continuing to operate as normal, a limited number of them are seeking to reduce the amount of people attending their sites, restricting attendees to essential workers only, which includes a number of Altrad employees identified as critical workers. The rapid pace at which some our clients are making these reductions is unprecedented and as a consequence, we will be required to reduce our resources on certain sites rapidly.

In view of the above, it is our intention to shortly commence a process of “furloughing” employees affected, where the government employee retention scheme is applicable, to ensure the preservation of employment and to ensure we limit the impact of this situation to our employees. The furloughing process is a temporary measure, to avoid us making any of our employees redundant and it will be reversed once the current COVID-19 pandemic is behind us.

Unfortunately, the guidance from the UK government on arrangements for furloughing is not comprehensive at this stage, however we are interpreting the current advice to the best of our ability and will be communicating directly with those impacted shortly.

Please rest assured, we are working with our clients to limit the impact of these arrangements and we will do everything possible to ensure any employees affected are able to resume work at the earliest opportunity.

For the many of you that are not affected by this process we wish to again thank you for your support, and for the limited number of employees who are impacted, we wish to thank you for your understanding and your co-operation during this difficult time.
