As you will be aware the Government announced further measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 and protect the NHS. One of these measures was for the increase in home working for office based employees who could effectively do so. The measures are not short term and are envisaged to last for the next 6 months.
We are currently carrying out an assessment on how we balance these measures over a long period whilst maintaining practical steps to ensure efficiency and contact with home workers.
One of the first steps we have taken is to understand who is in the ‘vulnerable groups’ as they will be our first priority. We are collecting this information via department heads and line management. In addition, we will also be developing policies on rotation of office based employees to allow even greater social distancing. Importantly, we need to come up with practical measures to maintain contact with our employees to ensure, whether they be working at home, in the office, or having to self-isolate that we ensure their safety. We are balancing maintaining a COVID safe working environment, with the mental well-being of our people whilst continuing to provide services to our clients and thereby supporting the UK`s critical infrastructure.
These arrangements will take a few days to develop and once we have a greater understanding of who is affected and the business requirements for each department, we will make a further announcement. Should anyone have any concerns please raise these with your line manager or the HR department. It is particularly important to make them aware if you fit in any of the ‘vulnerable categories’ from the following list:-
- The vulnerable groups who may contract COVID 19 are people in order of highest risk:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Chronic respiratory disease
- Abnormally high blood pressure
- Cancer and treatment thereof
- Deficiencies with the immune system
In the interim, we ask all our people who are office based to remain so, whilst we work through the various options.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
