On 20 November, Altrad hosted a table at the Appledore College Apprenticeship Evening, organised by ExxonMobil.
Encouraging young people into the industry is an important part of the future success of businesses right across the sector. The evening gave young students at the college a chance to come down and see what a career in the industrial services world might look like, with apprenticeships set up to deliver multi-skilled training to tomorrow’s workforce.
On the stand were Altrad’s Matt Oates, Head of Training and Development, Alan Chorley, Regional Operations Manager and Luke Chorley, Access Delivery Manager. They took the time to show the students the type of work Altrad undertakes, and the different skills they can learn with these new apprenticeships.
Altrad is on a journey to vastly increase the number of young people entering the workforce by delivering a wide campaign of skill-specific apprenticeships across the UK. On the Fawley Refinery site specifically, the team are gearing up to training between nine and 12 new apprentices each year for the next three years. Right now, there are two vacancies open for Mechanical Engineers.
