Earlier this year the Altrad Services team donated a large amount of old branded PPE to the Thurso Community Cafe to help raise funds. For a reminder on this story click here.
The cafe recently contacted Altrad to provide an update on how that donation has been helping the community, especially in this present situation.
Earlier this year they managed to raise over £1,000 during their last swish event but since then the way the cafe operates, just like many other businesses in all sectors has had to change. The cafe’s doors are unfortunately now closed but members of the cafe along with some volunteers are now running a community food drop off service to those who are most in need. This can be anything from canned food to ready made meals. They are also doing prescription drop offs or even just picking up newspapers for older people who do not have access to the internet.
They are also offering one to one communication engagement services to those who are isolated to try and keep people connected. This is equally vital to protect people’s mental health as well as physical health through isolation to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The members were keen to once again thank Altrad for the previous donation, without it they would not be operating today, and helping those in need.
