Two years ago, Andrew Short, Head of Assets Scaffolding and Design, organised for 127 scrap scaffolding boards to be donated to a local council in Norfolk, England, where Altrad employs around 300 talented people. The scaffold boards were to be recycled as part of an exciting community art project for the seaside town of Sheringham. It is with great delight that we share the finished result of this project, which sees a 95-foot-long hand-painted artwork erected in Sheringham’s east promenade, depicting a scene from the last ice age.

The project, by Sheringham Art, was inspired by Norfolk’s notable archaeological discoveries and was the group’s most ambitious project to date. A several people volunteered to be part of the project, bringing together local artists and schools to produce the mural.

The mural was unveiled on Wednesday, 27th March and Carl Wilkinson, General Manager, and Glen Barnard, Site Foreman based at Perenco Bacton in Norwich, England, attended to represent Altrad and be present for the unveiling of this impressive piece.

Amazing work from all involved; it is brilliant to see the final results, and we are proud to support the communities in which we operate!

L-R: Glen Barnard, Peter Ratcliffe (Sheringham Town Council Mayor and Chair of the Council), Colin Seal (Founding Member of Sheringham Art) and Carl Wilkinson.

Let’s start the conversation

Quite simply, a journey at Altrad begins with a desire to create a better tomorrow.
