Altrad Services Hinkley Point C Update

Altrad Services Hinkley Point C Update

As many of you will already know, Altrad services have joined the MEH Alliance as a Tier 1 contractor working on the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to play a significant role in the construction of the first in a new generation of nuclear power plants in the UK.

The MEH Alliance is responsible for Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC works on-site and Altrad will be providing all access solutions, thermal insulation, painting, coatings and fire stopping services across this piece of work.  To give some idea of scale, the MEH scope covers 75 buildings, with more than 200 erection areas in over 4,000 rooms.

While it is still relatively early days in the project lifecycle, the Altrad presence is building all the time and there have been some recent additions to the team.

Andrew Murie will lead the team moving in his new role as HPC Project Director reporting into David Fitzsimons.  Andy brings a wealth of Senior Commercial and Operational experience from his previous roles within Altrad, Cape, Laing O’Rourke and Amec.

Kevin Wood has also recently joined the MEH team as Project Delivery Lead.  Kevin returned to the UK last year after many years working within senior leadership roles in Asia and the Middle East business unites.  Kevin has most recently been working for Altrad at HPC on the non-MEH works and the site experience gained during this time made him the obvious choice to lead the Altrad scope within MEH.

Mick Craik has replaced Kevin on the Non-MEH works and is now in post as the Project Delivery Lead (HPC non-MEH).  Mick has worked with Hertel for the last 15 years and moved to HPC from his General Manager position in South Wales. This varied and challenging role will see Mick and his team assisting all other (non-MEH) Tier 1 contractors with S.I.P and specialist services requirements as they are needed.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone into the existing team and wish them every success in their new roles.

Incorporating the new positions the current HPC team is now:

  • Andrew Murie – HPC Project Director
  • John Redmond – MEH Commercial Director
  • Kevin Wood – MEH Project Delivery Lead
  • Mick Craik – Non MEH Project Delivery lead
  • Peter Klein – MEH Security Lead
  • Russell Bain – MEH Quality Regulatory Interface Lead
  • Mike Hay – MEH Logistics Manager
  • Steve West – MEH HR Lead
  • Ian Evans – MEH Commercial Lead
  • Eugenie Barthelme – Construction Engineer (painting & coatings specialist)
  • Neil Tilford – Quality Assurance
  • Tony Heffernan – Non MEH Scaffold lead

In the comings months, there will be an ever-increasing requirement for staff and operational team members to join us on the project.  Keep checking back for more details on how we’ll be advertising roles.
