Altrad Services donate signed French national rugby shirt to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was set up by former Scottish Rugby International Doddie Weir following his diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease. The foundation aims to raise funds to assist in research for finding a cure for the condition as well as improving the lives of fellow sufferers.

For Altrad, rugby embodies certain values, above all: respect, solidarity, team spirit, commitment, courage, abnegation.

Altrad is the majority shareholder of the MHR – Montpellier Hérault Rugby and not only have involvement at club level, but also sponsors the French national side as well.

Due to these close ties with the sport, when Doddie Weir appeared on BBC Sports Personality of the Year in December 2019, members of Altrad wondered in what way they could help. During his speech he referred to the monies raised so far by the foundation:

“From playing sport, I’ve got a fair bit of spirit and fight and my spirit is to find a cure for MND.  My foundation has raised nearly £5million, the recognition and support has been staggering.”

The foundation has received great support to date, especially by the global rugby fraternity of which the Altrad Group are proud to play a part. The donated signed French rugby shirt, will be sold at auction with all proceeds going to the foundation.
